Kothagiri Collective Farmers' Producer Company Limited

Out here in the Nilgiris, things move a bit slower than they do down in the plains. We are based at D/N 7/61 in Dhimbatty Village, which is part of the Kannerimukku post office area in Kotagiri. It’s a beautiful place to work, even if the roads are a bit winding and take some time to navigate. Kothagiri Collective Farmers' Producer Company Limited was started because we wanted to work together as local farmers. There are a lot of us involved, and we all have our own bits of land around the hills. The air is usually cool, and we get quite a bit of mist rolling in during certain months. Our office in the village is where we gather to figure out what to do with the crops and how to handle the sales. It isn't a fancy corporate building, just a practical space where we can sit down and talk. Sometimes we meet outside if the weather is nice. Being a collective means we have to listen to a lot of different opinions, which can be tiring, but it's the only way to get things done right for everyone. We deal with the realities of farming in the hills, like the rain and the transport issues. It’s hard work, but being in Dhimbatty makes it a bit better. We just focus on the day-to-day tasks and keeping the group going. It’s a long way from the city, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.
