Blue Mountain Collective Farmers' Producer Company Limited

Up here in Ooty, the air is a lot cooler and the landscape is much steeper than down in the plains. Our office for the Blue Mountain Collective Farmers' Producer Company Limited is at 186-A, Aams House Road. We are on the second floor, right near Neathra. If you look out the window, you can see the hills that give our company its name. Most of the people we work with are small-scale farmers who grow vegetables or tea in these hills. It’s a different kind of life up here. The mist rolls in during the afternoons and everything gets damp. We spend our time trying to organize how to get the produce down the mountain without it getting spoiled. The building we are in is old, and the stairs are a bit narrow. We don't have a big corporate culture or anything like that. We are just local people who know how hard it is to farm on a slope. We meet up, talk about the harvest, and try to figure out the best way to help each other out. Sometimes the roads are blocked by landslides or heavy rain, which makes our work a lot harder. But that is just part of living in the Nilgiris. We keep things simple and focus on the day-to-day tasks that keep the collective running for everyone involved in the mountains.
