Zaika Caterers

Zaika Caterers is down on Tayabi Street, near the Dhobi Masjid in the Surat HO area. This part of town is very old and the streets can be quite narrow, which makes it feel like a real community. We’ve been operating out of this location for a long time. You can find us by looking for the Dhobi Masjid and then just walking a bit further down Tayabi Street. The building we are in isn't much to look at from the outside, but inside we have everything set up for serious cooking. It’s a lot of manual labor, from carrying the heavy gas cylinders to washing the massive pots we use for the main dishes. We don't have a corporate office or a sales team. When the phone rings, it’s usually one of us with flour on our hands answering it. The street is always full of life, with kids playing and people going to the masjid. We like being part of that daily rhythm. Our kitchen doesn't have the latest gadgets, just the old-fashioned stoves and tools that have worked for us for years. We spend our time making sure the ingredients are fresh and the spices are ground just right. There's no script or mission statement here, just a group of people who know how to cook for a crowd. It’s a simple, honest way to make a living in the heart of Surat. We just do our best.
