Yadav Pan Corner

Yadav Pan Corner is right on Althan Roshan Bagh Road. It is a small spot, maybe even smaller than most people think when they see it from the street. I spend most of my day standing right here behind the wooden counter. The smell of betel leaves and tobacco is always around and it has been this way for a long time. People driving by on their bikes often stop quick to grab something before moving on. We keep all the jars lined up in rows so I can reach them fast. Sometimes the rain comes down really hard and people crowd under our small roof to stay dry. It gets a bit cramped in those moments but nobody seems to mind much. I know most of the guys who come here by their first names now. We talk about the local news or just the heat. Althan Roshan Bagh Road has changed quite a bit over the years, but this corner stays about the same. The wood on the counter is getting a bit worn out and smooth from use. I should probably fix that one day. We keep the small change in a tin box that rattles. It gets noisy with all the traffic passing right by us. Some days are very slow, especially when it is too hot for anyone to be out walking. We just keep the shop open and wait for the sun to go down. It is a living for us.
