Mahendra Steels

Mahendra Steels is based in Udhna, which is a pretty industrial part of town. If you come by, you’ll see it’s a working shop, not a showroom. There is steel everywhere—piles of it on the floor, leaning against the walls, and stacked on racks. We deal with all sorts of metal bars and sheets. It gets quite loud here with the cutting machines running and the trucks loading up outside. The air always has that metallic smell to it. We don’t really do fancy office stuff. We spend most of our time out on the floor moving things around. It’s heavy work and your clothes get dirty pretty fast. Udhna is always busy with traffic and other workshops, so it’s never quiet. We’ve been at this for a long time and we know our way around a load of steel. We don’t have a sales team or a big website. Most of our customers are just local builders or factory owners who need materials. We just write down orders on a pad and get to work. Sometimes the machines break down and we have to fix them ourselves. It’s a bit messy and the floor is always covered in scraps, but that’s just how it is. We start early in the morning and stay until the last truck is loaded. It’s just regular work for us, nothing more than that.
