Ankit Lace Maker

Ankit Lace Maker is tucked away in the Khatodara Industrial Society. We are at 10/5, right behind the sub jail. It’s a bit of an odd landmark but it makes it easy for people to find us. The society is full of different workshops and it’s always got that hum of machinery in the air. Our place is no different. We spend the whole day working with the machines and making sure the lace comes out looking like it should. It’s dusty work and can be quite loud when everything is running at once. We don't have a receptionist or a waiting room. You just walk in and see us working. The area around Khatodara is always moving. Trucks come in and out with materials all the time. Sometimes we have to wait for the power to behave, but that’s part of the life here. We’ve got piles of thread and rolls of finished lace sitting on the shelves. It’s a simple setup where the focus is just on the production. The tea guy comes around twice a day and that’s when we usually take a breather. It’s honest work and we’ve been doing it for a long time now. We aren't trying to be the biggest, just trying to keep our machines going and get the lace delivered to the people who need it. Being behind the jail keeps things quiet on one side at least. Most of the time it is just the sound of the needles and the thread moving back and forth.
