We are located at 102, Puna Kumbhariya Road, which is a busy stretch of road most of the time. Schiffli Embroidery Pvt. Ltd. is where the machines run almost constantly. You can hear that steady hum of the needles from the street if the doors are open. The air inside is always filled with little bits of lint and thread from the fabric we handle. It’s a lot of staring at patterns and making sure the thread doesn't snap in the middle of a run. Most of the staff here have been doing this for years, so they know the sound a machine makes when it’s about to have a problem. We have rows of these big machines that take up most of the floor space. Boxes of finished goods are usually stacked up near the entrance waiting for the truck to arrive. Puna Kumbhariya Road gets a lot of traffic, so loading and unloading can be a bit of a headache sometimes. We don’t have a big fancy office or anything like that. There is just a small desk where the paperwork gets done. The rest of the place is for the work. It’s repetitive, but there is something about seeing a plain piece of cloth get covered in a pattern that feels right. We just keep our heads down and watch the needles move. That’s our day.
