If you walk along Boulevard Road in Srinagar, you’ll find us near Hotel Sunsine at Dalgate. We are Royal Khazir Hotels Resorts, and we’ve been part of this area for a long time. Our location is right by Khazir Sons. Being so close to the lake means we get to see the shikaras going by every morning. The weather in Jammu Kashmir changes quickly, so we spend a lot of time making sure the heating is working and the blankets are thick enough for the guests. It’s a family-run kind of feel here. We don't have those stiff corporate rules that you find in big international hotels. We just treat people like they’ve come to stay at our home. The building has a lot of traditional woodwork that we have to maintain constantly because of the damp air from the water. Dalgate is a busy spot with lots of tourists and locals mingling, so there’s always something happening outside. We usually start the day with some tea and a look at the booking register. Most of our guests are just looking for a comfortable place to stay while they explore the valley. We don’t go in for fancy slogans or anything. We just focus on the daily chores like making the beds and ensuring the kitchen has fresh supplies. It’s a good way to live, being right here in the middle of Srinagar and meeting people from all over.
