National Rural Health Mission

Our small office sits over in 68D Shah Faisal Colony, which is part of the Buchpora area here in Srinagar. It’s a busy neighborhood and we are tucked in among the local houses. Most of the time, the air is crisp, and we see people walking by on their way to the market or the mosque. Inside, it’s mostly just us handling the health records and coordinating with the local clinics. We have a lot of charts on the walls and files stacked on the corner tables. It can get a bit crowded when people come in with their forms. We use simple heaters in the winter to keep our hands warm enough to write. The staff here mostly lives nearby, so we know the families in the colony. It’s not a big corporate setup, just a practical space where we handle the day-to-day tasks. Sometimes the phone rings all day, other times it is quiet enough to hear the birds outside. We deal with a lot of paperwork regarding the local health schemes and medicine supplies. Everything is kept in heavy folders. If you walk past the main gate in Buchpora, you’ll likely see our sign. It’s been our base for a good while. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs finishing before the sun sets over the hills. There is always more to file tomorrow morning.
