Meena Group Houseboats

We stay out here on Dal Lake, near the P.O. Box 76 area. Running houseboats is what we do, and it’s been that way for a long time. It’s not like running a hotel on land, things are always moving a bit. You have to keep an eye on the wood and the water levels constantly. Our boats are docked in the usual spots where you can see the mountains when the morning fog clears up. We spend most of our mornings checking on the rooms and making sure everything is okay for whoever is staying with us. It's quiet mostly, except for the sounds of other boats going by. We aren't a big corporation or anything, just a family-run operation. We handle the cleaning, the cooking, and showing people around if they ask. The lake life is slow. Sometimes things break and we fix them. That's just part of it. We like it when guests actually enjoy the stillness. Most people come here to get away from the noise of the city, and we provide a place for that. It's a lot of work to keep these old boats in good shape, but we’re used to it. If you find yourself in Srinagar looking for a place to sleep on the water, we’re around. We've lived on the water our whole lives so it's just normal to us. We hope visitors find it as peaceful as we do and we keep working hard to stay here.
