Dolphin College

Dolphin College is situated right at the Main Chowk on the Main Road near Kashmir University in Srinagar. It’s a very central location, so there is always something happening right outside our doors. You can see the university crowd passing by all day long. The building is right there on the corner. Inside, it’s a bit of a maze with different rooms for different classes. We have students coming from all over Srinagar and even further out. It gets quite cold in the winter, so we spend a lot of time making sure the rooms stay warm enough for everyone to concentrate. We have plenty of old desks and shelves full of books. The atmosphere is usually busy, especially between classes when everyone is moving through the halls. We don't have a lot of bells and whistles; it’s just a place for students to come and study. The staff is usually busy with paperwork or talking to students about their schedules. Because we are at the Main Chowk, it’s easy for people to find us, but the noise of the traffic is something we’ve just gotten used to over the years. We just try to keep things running smoothly and make sure the students have what they need for their courses. It’s a practical, no-nonsense kind of place in the heart of the city. We keep a kettle going in the staff room for tea during the breaks.
