Gayatri Junior College

Our college sits right on the Main Road in Singadam, which is a small place in Srikakulam. You can’t really miss the building if you are traveling through the area. It is a straightforward place where the intermediate students come to finish their schooling. Most of the kids come from the surrounding villages, arriving on buses or cycles early in the morning. The rooms are basic with long benches and fans that hum all day long. We don't have any of those polished glass walls you see in city offices. Instead, it’s just brick and paint that has faded a bit over the years. The teachers here are local folks who understand the students and the challenges they face with the exams. There is always a bit of stress when the board tests get close, and you will see everyone huddled over their notes during the intervals. We drink tea from the shop nearby and talk about how the crops are doing or what the weather is going to be like. It is a practical environment where the main goal is just to pass the classes and move on to the next step in life. We have a small staff room where we keep all the registers and the attendance books. It’s a quiet town for the most part, except for the traffic on the Main Road, but inside the college, we just stick to the schedule. We do our best to help everyone get through the year without too many issues.
