Turquoise Cottage From The Orient is a long name for a restaurant, but we just call it the cottage most of the time. We are located at 81/3 on Sri Aurobindo Marg. This part of the city is always moving, and we are right in the middle of it. The place has a lot of wood and some old-style decorations that we’ve gathered over the years. It’s not a shiny new mall restaurant. It has some character, maybe a few scratches on the tables here and there, but that’s what makes it feel real. We focus on Asian food, mostly because that’s what we enjoy cooking. The kitchen gets pretty loud with the high-flame burners, and you can hear the chefs shouting orders back and forth. We don't use a lot of fancy words to describe what we do. We just chop the vegetables, fry the meat, and hope the flavors are what people are looking for. Aurobindo Marg is a tough place to find parking, so we appreciate anyone who makes the effort to come see us. The lighting inside is a bit dim, which helps people relax after a long day in the Delhi heat. We’ve had some good nights and some quiet ones, but we are still here, doing the same thing every day. It’s just a place to eat and maybe forget about the traffic outside for an hour or so.
