The Pothli Creations

Our business, The Pothli Creations, is based in G 31 of the Mangla Apartments in Kalkaji. It is more of a home-based setup than a traditional shop, so when you come here, it feels like you are visiting someone's house. We have converted part of the apartment into a work area where we keep all our supplies and finished pothlis. Kalkaji is a crowded neighborhood, but inside Mangla Apartments, it is usually a bit more peaceful. We spend hours every day working on small details and making sure everything is stitched properly. Sometimes the dining table gets covered in beads and fabric scraps, especially when we have a big order to finish. We don’t have fancy display cases; everything is usually kept in boxes or on simple shelves. It’s just a few of us working here, and we often have the radio playing in the background while we work. We like being in Kalkaji because everything we need is close by, and it’s a place we know well. We don’t really do much to promote ourselves; we just rely on people finding out about us through word of mouth. It’s a practical way to run a small creation business without all the stress of a high-street store. We just keep doing our work, one pothli at a time, and hope that the people who buy them are happy with what they get. It's just a small, quiet operation.
