Modi Sugar Mills

You can find Modi Sugar Mills at 1502-A in the Modi Tower, which is one of the big buildings in Nehru Place. Most people come to this area for computers and electronics, but we are up here dealing with the sugar business. It is a bit of a contrast to the chaotic markets downstairs. Our office is high up, so we get a decent view of the city, but we are usually too busy with paperwork and phone calls to look out the window much. We coordinate with the mills and handle the administrative side of things from this desk. The elevators in the tower are always slow, which is something we have just learned to live with over the years. We have a few desks and a lot of filing cabinets filled with records of shipments and prices. It is not the kind of place where customers just walk in off the street; it is more about the back-and-forth of the industry. The air conditioning is usually running, which is a relief from the Delhi heat, but the office still feels a bit lived-in with old calendars and stacks of journals. We have a small team here, and we all know our roles pretty well. It is a steady, quiet type of work compared to the mills themselves, but it is what keeps the whole operation together from the middle of Nehru Place.
