Down on 75 Link Road in Lajpat Nagar-III, you’ll find us working away most days. Kidstuf Furnitures and Interiors is exactly what it sounds like. We make stuff for kids’ rooms. It’s a bit different from making regular furniture because everything has to be a bit sturdier and the edges can’t be sharp for obvious reasons. We spend a lot of time thinking about how kids use things, which usually involves a lot of jumping and spilling stuff. The shop is often a mess with wood shavings and paint samples scattered everywhere. Lajpat Nagar is a busy place, and there’s always someone walking by the window looking at what we're painting. We’ve been here for a while and seen a lot of shops come and go on Link Road. My wife helps with the interior side of things, picking out colors and fabrics that won't show stains too easily. We don't have a big corporate office or a sales team. It's just us and a few workers who know their way around a lathe and a paintbrush. Sometimes we run out of a certain color of blue paint and have to wait for the delivery guy, which slows us down. But we eventually get it done. It’s nice seeing a parent’s face when they see the finished room. We don't do fancy ads or have a big sign. People just see the shop and come in to ask questions. It’s a small, local operation and we like it that way.
