Art For Kids is located over at D-49 in Block D, right across from Moolchand Hospital in Defence Colony. It’s a place where things usually get a little messy, which is probably how an art space should be. We have kids coming in from all over the neighborhood to draw, paint, and basically just make stuff. The rooms are often filled with half-finished sketches and the smell of poster colors. We aren't trying to run a fancy gallery or anything. It's more about giving the kids a table and some supplies so they can be creative for an hour or two. Being so close to the hospital means it’s a landmark everyone knows, so parents don’t have much trouble finding us. We’ve got shelves stacked with paper and brushes that have seen better days. The floor usually has a few paint spots that won't come out, but that’s fine. It feels lived-in and real. Our days are mostly spent setting up stations and helping a child figure out how to mix a certain shade of green. It’s noisy and chaotic sometimes, especially on Saturday mornings, but it’s a good kind of energy. We don't have a big corporate structure or a long list of rules. We just show up, get the materials ready, and let the kids do their thing. It’s a simple way to spend the day, and we’ve been doing it this way for quite some time.
