About Art View Gallery – Art & Craft in South Delhi
If you walk into Hauz Khas Village 3, you’ll find us tucked away near the end of the lane. The stairs are a bit narrow and sometimes the lighting in the hallway flickers, but once you’re inside the gallery, it’s quiet. We spend most of our mornings just moving frames around or wiping the glass because the dust from the street gets in everywhere. There isn't a lot of space, so we hang things where they fit. Sometimes an artist comes by to drop off a new piece and we have to rearrange the whole wall just to make it work. It’s mostly just two of us here during the day. We sit at the small wooden desk near the window and watch people walking their dogs or tourists looking for the lake. The walls are white but they have some scuffs from moving the heavy canvases around so often. We don’t really have a big staff or fancy systems. If the phone rings, we answer it, and if it doesn’t, we just keep busy with the inventory. It gets really hot in the afternoons, so the ceiling fan stays on high. People come in and look around, and we mostly just let them be. It’s a simple setup we’ve had for a while now. We keep the doors open when the weather is nice, though that’s not very often with the Delhi heat. It’s just how things are here at Art View Gallery.
