Aakriti Kala Mandir

Aakriti Kala Mandir is tucked away in Saiyad Ul Ajaib, near Fatehpur Beri. It’s a bit of a trek to get out here if you aren’t from this part of South Delhi, but it’s a nice change from the city noise. We’ve set up this space for art and culture, though it’s definitely more of a working studio than a polished gallery. There’s usually some paint on the floor and brushes soaking in jars. We don’t have a big corporate structure or a bunch of managers. It’s just a place where people come to learn and create things. Sometimes it’s quiet and everyone is focused, and other days it’s a bit chaotic with people moving around and talking. We get a mix of folks from the nearby villages and some who travel from further away. The building is simple and we’ve decorated it ourselves over the years. We didn’t start this to make a ton of money or become famous; we just wanted a local spot for the arts. It’s a bit dusty sometimes because of the location, but we don't mind. People come in, they do their work, and they leave feeling a bit better. We’re usually here from morning until evening, just keeping the place running and helping out whoever walks through the door. It’s a relaxed vibe, and we like keeping it that way without any unnecessary rules or stuffy attitudes.
