We started Sri Karpaga Vinayagar Collective Farm Producer Company Limited out here in S Pudur because the farmers in our part of Sivaganga needed a way to work together. If you come down Main Road at No 778/3, you’ll find our small office. It isn’t much to look at, just a place where we sit down to figure out how to handle the crops and get things to market without losing too much money. Most of us grew up on these lands. Farming is hard work, especially when the weather doesn't go right, so having this group helps us share the load. We spend a lot of time talking about seeds and what the soil needs this year. It’s mostly just local folks here. We aren't some big city corporation with fancy suits. We wear our work clothes and get our hands dirty every day. Sometimes the paperwork gets a bit much, but we manage it one day at a time. The office is right there in the 630410 area, easy enough to spot if you are driving through. We don't have a big sign or anything flashy. It's just a spot for us to organize things. People from the nearby villages often stop by to check on prices or just to have a quick chat about the harvest. We try to keep things simple and honest because that is how we were raised in Tamil Nadu.
