You plant a tree and you wait years, then you spend the rest of your life looking up at the sky. We spend our days checking for pests and making sure the irrigation is working. It’s hot work under the sun, even with the shade from the palms. We joined together because selling coconuts one by one is tough. As a company, we can help each other more. We don’t have a fancy mission statement or a polished look. Our clothes are usually stained with red dirt and coconut husk fibers. That’s just the way it is. When the harvest comes, it’s a lot of heavy lifting and loading trucks on Bungalow Street. We talk to each other over the fence or at the small shop nearby. It’s a community thing more than a business thing. We’re just people who know everything there is to know about coconuts and the ground they grow in. If you need us, we are probably out in the grove or sitting near the office. It is just basic work but someone has to do it.
