Sivagangai S.Pudur Women Farmers Producer Company Limited is our name and we are based at 488 Mettampatti. Our mail goes to the Kulathupatti Post Office and we are in the Singampunari Taluk. Like other groups around here, we are made up of women who have spent their lives working the land. We know the Sivagangai dirt pretty well by now. We started this company because we wanted to have more control over where our crops go and how they are sold. The office at Mettampatti is a simple building. It’s a place where we can get away from the sun for a bit and handle the logistics of the farm. We deal with all sorts of crops depending on the season. Sometimes the weather is against us, and sometimes it’s the market, but we stay at it. Our members are local women who understand that we are stronger when we stand together. We don't have a marketing team or anything like that. We just have our hands and our knowledge of the seasons. You’ll often find us sitting in a circle at the office, discussing the latest prices or planning the next sowing. It's a lot of work and the progress is slow sometimes, but it's ours.
