We are based in Sitapur, specifically in the Ambikapuram and Anand Nagar area. Our group is called Khairabad Millets Samruddhi Farmers Producer Company Limited. As the name suggests, we focus a lot on millets because they grow well here without needing too much water. Pooja Awasthi helps keep things organized from the village. It is a local effort. We noticed that people are starting to want millets again, so we decided to team up. Farming in this part of Uttar Pradesh isn't always easy, especially with the weather being so unpredictable lately. By working together, we can share the burden. We aren't professional businessmen or anything. We are just people who have worked the land for years. Sometimes the crops are great, and sometimes they aren't. We just try to support each other through it. Most of our meetings happen on a porch or in a field. We don't use big words or have complicated plans. We just want to grow good food and make sure our families are taken care of. It’s hard work, and the sun in Sitapur can be brutal, but we are used to it. If you come through our village, you’ll see what we’re about. It’s just honest work. We are learning how to handle the selling part of things now, which is new for us. It’s a slow climb but we are doing it step by step. Every harvest brings a new set of problems to solve.
