S. M. Trading Co.

S. M. Trading Co. is located on Bidhan Market Road in the Darjeeling district. If you have ever been to this part of the country, you know the roads can be a bit steep and the weather changes every few minutes. We have our little shop right in the middle of the market area, so it gets very lively, especially on market days. We deal in various goods that people in the hills need. The shop isn't very large, and we often have sacks or boxes stacked up near the entrance depending on what delivery just came in. It can get quite chilly here in the winter, so we usually have some hot tea ready and wear a few extra layers while we work. We know most of the other shopkeepers on the road, and we often help each other out when things get busy. We don't really have a website or a marketing person. Most people just walk in because they saw the sign or someone told them we had what they were looking for. We keep our own books and manage everything ourselves. It is a simple life and a simple business. We like being part of the local community here in Darjeeling. Sometimes the fog rolls in so thick you can't see across the street, but the work goes on. We just open up the shutters every morning and see what the day brings us. It's been like this for years, and we're used to the mountain pace of things and the cold air.
