Venus Public Senior Secondary School

Our school is out on Nither Road in the Kullu district. It is a bit of a drive to get here, but the views are something else. We are located right in Nither, and the school has become a bit of a landmark for the locals. The building is made to handle the mountain weather, so it feels quite sturdy. We have several classrooms for the older students and a place for the younger ones too. During the winter, it gets quite chilly, and we all have to bundle up. The staff usually arrives early to get things ready before the students start coming up the road. We spend a lot of time on basic maintenance because the mountain air and rain can be hard on the paint and the roof. It’s a very hands-on kind of place. We don't have a huge office staff, so everyone chips in with whatever needs doing, whether it’s cleaning up or organizing the library books. The kids here are mostly from the surrounding villages. We know their parents and often see them at the market. It’s a tight-knit community. Life is a bit slower here than in the big cities, and we like it that way. We just focus on the daily lessons and making sure the school stays in good shape for the next day. We keep an eye on the wood for the heaters and make sure the floors are swept clear of mud from the road outside. It’s a practical, no-nonsense kind of place.
