Himalayan Public School

If you head up to Nerwa in the Theog area of Shimla, you will find us at 613 Main Road. It is a high-altitude place, so the weather is often the biggest thing we have to deal with. The school sits right on the main road, which makes it easy for the students to get here, even when the snow starts falling in the winter months. We are a regular public school, nothing too fancy about the building or the rooms inside. We have wooden floors that creak a bit and desks that have been used by many sets of students over the years. Life in Nerwa is quiet, and the school is one of the main places where people gather. We spend our days going through the curriculum, making sure the kids stay on track with their studies. It can be a challenge when the power goes out or when the roads are blocked, but we just keep the wood stoves going and carry on with the lessons. The staff here are locals who understand what it is like to live and work in the mountains. We don't have a big budget for fancy equipment, but we have enough books and chalk to get the job done. It is a simple life up here in Shimla, and we are just trying to keep the school running smoothly for the families in this area.
