Dav Centenary Public School Chopal

Up here in Chopal, things move at their own pace. Our school, Dav Centenary Public School, is right in the middle of it all in this part of Shimla. The weather dictates a lot of what we do. When it’s cold, we all wrap up, and when the sun is out, the kids are all over the playground. It’s a simple building where we’ve been teaching the local kids for years. We aren't a big city school with glass walls. We have desks, chalkboards, and teachers who know the families around here. Most of the staff live nearby, so we see each other at the market too. The school day starts with the kids walking up the hills to get here. It’s good exercise, I suppose. We spend the hours working through the books and making sure the children understand their math and languages. It gets quiet in the afternoons once they all head home. We don't do anything flashy. It's just a place for learning and growing up in the mountains. Sometimes the internet is slow or the power goes out, but we just carry on with the books. That's life in Chopal. People here know us, and we know them. It’s a straightforward way to run a school. We just try to do right by the students every day. It's a lot of walking and a lot of patience, but it works.
