Down in the Rohru area, specifically in Chirgaon, we have the Pabbar river flowing and some of the best land for apples you can find. Pabbar Apple Grower Farmer Producer Company Limited is based at Ajay Singh’s place in Village Mastot. We are a collection of growers who are lucky enough to live in this beautiful valley. Our whole lives revolve around the apple cycle, from pruning in the winter to the busy harvest months. We decided to get organized because the world is changing and it’s getting harder for small growers to survive on their own. By forming this company, we can help each other out with things like crates, fertilizers, and getting the fruit to the bigger cities. It is a community effort, plain and simple. We know every inch of these orchards because we have spent our whole lives in them. There’s a lot of talking that goes on in our meetings—usually over tea—about the best way to handle the trees or what the market might do this year. We don't have a polished image or a corporate vibe. We are just the people you see walking through the orchards in their boots. Our goal is just to keep the Pabbar name strong and make sure our kids can keep farming this land if they want to. It’s hard work, but it’s our life, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
