Chuwara Valley Farmer Producer Company Limited is based in Village Badiyara, which is part of the Jangla post office area in Rohru. We’re up in the Shimla hills, and our point of contact is Suratram. This valley is famous for its fruit, especially apples, and most of us here have been farming for as long as we can remember. We started this company because we wanted to have a better say in how our produce is handled. It’s a long way from here to the big markets, and a lot can go wrong on those mountain roads. By working together as a Producer Company, we can manage the transport and sales much better than we could alone. Our office is just a simple place in the village where we keep our books and meet to talk about the next season. We aren't professional businessmen. We are farmers who had to learn the business side of things to survive. It’s a lot of work, and sometimes the paperwork gets confusing, but we manage. We care about the quality of what we grow because our names are on it. We don’t use any fancy sales talk. We just grow good fruit and try to get it to people who appreciate it.
