Kadd Farms Private Limited

Kadd Farms is based right in the heart of Shimla, near Ambedkarchowk in Tuti Kandi. Our office is at the Billiyat Cottage, which is where Chain Singh Rana stays. It’s a bit of an urban setting for a farming company, being in Ward 10, but we manage to bridge the gap between the town and the fields. We aren't like the big agricultural firms you see on TV. We are just a small private limited company trying to organize how we grow and sell our stuff. Because we are in Shimla town, we spend a lot of time dealing with the logistics of moving things through the busy streets. It can be a real headache with the traffic and the narrow roads. We have some members who have land further out, and we spend our time coordinating with them. The cottage serves as a hub where we can store some supplies and keep our books in order. It’s often a bit messy with bags of seeds or samples of crops lying around the tables. We don’t really have a set schedule; we just work when there is work to be done. Sometimes we are busy until late at night, and other times it’s quiet enough to just sit and have a smoke outside the ward office. We just take things as they come and try to keep the farm side of things running smoothly despite the bustle of the city around us.
