Kotkhai Farmers Producer Company Limited

We are a group of folks from around Kotkhai who decided to get together to make things a bit easier for everyone growing stuff here. Our main spot is over at Rajinder Chauhan’s place in Village Chattari. If you know the Shimla district, you know that farming in these hills isn’t exactly a walk in the park. The weather changes whenever it wants and getting produce down the narrow roads is always a bit of a headache. Most of us have been working these lands for as long as we can remember, just like our fathers did before us. We realized that if we pooled our resources and stopped trying to do every little thing on our own, we might actually get somewhere. It is basically just a bunch of local farmers trying to figure out the best way to deal with the markets and the seasons. We spend a lot of time talking about soil and rain and how to keep the crops healthy without spending more than we make. There are no fancy offices here, just the village setting and a lot of hard work. Sometimes the meetings happen on a porch or out in the field. We just want to make sure the people living in this part of Himachal Pradesh can keep farming and maybe have a bit more security at the end of the harvest. It is a simple setup, run by people who actually know what it’s like to have dirt under their fingernails every day.
