Himachali Farmers Producer Company Limited is located up in Melala village. We are part of the Kumarsain area, specifically in the Kotgarh region. Dinesh Chauhan is the main person who coordinates everything from his place. If you know Kotgarh, you know it is famous for apples. Most of us here have been working in the orchards for as long as we can remember. We formed this producer company because we wanted to have more control over our own fruit. It’s a group effort by the local growers in Vill Melala. Our office is just a regular house where we keep our supplies and meet to discuss the season. It’s not a polished business environment. You'll likely find apple crates stacked nearby and people talking in the local dialect. Dinesh is always busy with the paperwork or talking to the other farmers. We deal with the cold winters and the harvest rush every year. It’s a tough life, but it's our life. We don't use fancy marketing speak. We just talk about the trees and the yield. Being Himachali farmers means we are used to the mountain terrain. It's a simple, honest way to work together. We are just a bunch of neighbors in Kumarsain trying to do right by our land. It’s practical work for people who aren't afraid to get their hands dirty. We take pride in the apples that grow on these slopes every year.
