Gurudaspuria Farmer Producer Company Limited is located over in Kunwarpur Ratti, near Shahjahanpur. We work out of Jitendra Singh’s place. We are a collection of farmers from this local area who decided to join up and see if we could make our work a bit more efficient. Farming in Kunwarpur Ratti has its challenges, like the way the roads get after a heavy rain or finding people to help during the harvest season. We aren't a big firm with lots of money. We are just guys who own a few acres each and want to see our kids have a future here on this land. We spend a lot of time discussing what seeds are working and where we can get the best price for our grain. It is a very hands-on operation. If something needs doing, we just go out and do it. We don't wait for someone else to fix things. The company is our way of staying organized. We have regular talks about the weather and the markets, usually over some tea at Jitendra’s house. It’s not a polished business by any means. We make some mistakes and have to figure things out as we go. But it is better than being alone in the fields. We are proud of what we grow and we are just trying to make an honest living in Shahjahanpur while helping our neighbors along the way.
