Gurmaan Farmer Producer Company Limited is based out of House No 48 in the village of Deoriya, near Gangsara in Powayan. It’s a quiet spot, which suits us just fine. Most of us have lived around here our whole lives, so we know the land pretty well. Setting up this company was a way to bring people together so we could buy supplies cheaper and sell our produce for a better price. It sounds simple, but it’s actually a lot of running around. We spend a lot of time at the house going over lists and talking to the folks who come in from the surrounding farms. Deoriya is a small village, so everyone knows what everyone else is doing anyway. We don't have any fancy signs or big advertisements. We just do the work and let the results speak for themselves. Sometimes the machinery breaks down or we have trouble getting enough water, but that's just farming for you. We keep moving forward because we have to. It's a tough life sometimes, but being able to work for ourselves and help our neighbors makes it worth the long hours. We aren't doing anything revolutionary, just trying to make a decent living off the ground beneath our feet and keeping the house at number 48 as our main base.
