Zucchini Farmer Producer Company Limited

Our group is based in Shigaon, which is a small part of the Walva Taluka in Sangli district. Zucchini Farmer Producer Company Limited started because a few of us around Sukumar Anna Barwade’s place wanted to try something a bit different with our land. Sangli is famous for its grapes and turmeric, but we are looking at all sorts of vegetables, including ones you don't always see in every local market. The work is mostly done out in the sun, and our office is really just a simple spot where we can meet and keep our records. Shigaon is a place where you know your neighbor’s business, and we like that because it makes it easier to work as a team. We aren't experts with big degrees; we are just farmers who have learned by doing and by making a few mistakes along the way. Sometimes the irrigation pipes leak, or the weather doesn't cooperate, but that's just how farming is in Maharashtra. We spend a lot of time at the shed, sorting through what we’ve picked and talking about the market prices. Our address at Sangli-416302 might seem like just a number on a map, but for us, it’s home. We don't have a fancy website or a lot of polished brochures. We just have our crops and the hope that the next season will be a good one for all the families involved.
