Shirala Farmers Producer Company Limited

Shirala Farmers Producer Company Limited is based out of the village of Antribudaruk in the Shirala taluka of Sangli. We use Anat Pandurang Patil’s place for our meetings and to keep our records. We are a collective of farmers from this local area. Life in Sangli is tied closely to the land, and most of us have been farming since we were kids. We started this company because we wanted to have more say in how our produce is handled and sold. It’s not a fancy operation by any means. It’s just a group of us who know each other well and trust each other. We spend our days out in the fields, checking the soil and the crops. When the harvest time comes, it gets really busy around here and everyone has to pitch in. We talk about things like what fertilizer to use or how to manage the water when it gets dry. It's a lot of physical work and sometimes things don't go as planned. We don't have a big marketing team or a polished image. We are just people who work hard and want to see our community do okay. It’s a simple way of doing business, rooted in the work we do every day on our farms. We just try to stay focused on the crops and helping each other out. There is always plenty to do.
