Sangli District Agro Farmer Producer Company Limited

We are basically a group of farmers from around Sangli who decided to work together under the name Sangli District Agro Farmer Producer Company Limited. It started because things get tough when you try to handle everything alone, so we set up our office at Arun Namdeo Gokhale’s place in the Siddhivinayak Housing Society. That is over in Vijaynagar, for those who know the area. Most of us have been farming for years, and we just wanted a way to make sure our crops actually get to the market without too much trouble. It isn’t a big fancy office or anything like that, just a spot where we meet up and talk about what needs doing for the next season. We deal with whatever the local soil gives us and try to figure out how to keep things moving. There are plenty of challenges with the weather and prices, but having a collective makes it a bit easier to handle the paperwork and the selling part of the job. We aren't trying to be some huge corporation. We are just local people from Sangli trying to keep our farms going and looking after our families. Most days involve a lot of phone calls and checking on the fields, but that is just how life is here.
