Mata Ramabai Agro Farmer Producer Company Limited operates out of Sadavali. Shankar Shivram Mohite is the one who helps keep everything running from his home. We are a small group of people from the village who have been farming for generations. In a place like Sadavali, everyone knows their neighbor, so forming this company felt like the right step to take together. We focus on the crops that grow well in our local soil. Lately, the weather has been really changing, which makes the work more stressful for everyone. We meet up to discuss the water levels in the wells and who is planting what this season. It isn't a fancy setup with air conditioning or computers. It’s just a place where we keep our documents and sit down to talk business. We started this because as individual farmers, we don't have much of a voice. By being a registered company, we feel a bit more secure when we have to deal with buyers. There are many hurdles, like getting good seeds or finding transport that doesn't cost too much. We do our best with what we have. Most of our day is spent out in the fields from early morning. Then we gather at Shankar’s place to catch up. We don't have experts, just our own hands-on experience. We hope that by staying organized, we can make things a little easier for the next generation of farmers here in our village.
