Our company, Lsd Farmer Producer Company Limited, is set up at Sambhaji Shivajirao Talap’s place in Bhadkimbe, Sangli. We are right in the Walwa taluka. It is a collective of farmers from this part of the district. We started this because it is easier to sell our produce and buy what we need if we do it together. Sangli is known for its farming, and we are just one of the groups trying to make a living from the land. We don't have a big office with air conditioning. Usually, we just meet up at the house or out in the fields to talk about the next crop cycle. It is a community effort more than a business in the traditional sense. We handle whatever comes our way, whether it is sugar cane or other local crops. The paperwork is handled locally and we try to keep things as simple as possible. Everyone involved is a local, so we all have a stake in how well things go. We don't use any marketing people to write our stuff. We just wanted to have a way to be official and help the farmers in Bhadkimbe get a better deal for their hard work. It is a lot of long hours and checking the soil, but it’s what we know. The office is really just a desk in the corner of the room where we keep the registers and files for the government side of the work.
