Aai Ambabai Farmer Producer Company Limited

Our group is based out of Salekasa in the Gondia district, right at house number 1185. It’s the home of Sawalrambhau Bahekar, so that is where you will find us if you come through Amgaon. Gondia is known for being a bit of a rice belt, and that is what most of our lives revolve around. We are a farmer producer company, but that really just means we are a bunch of neighbors trying to get a better handle on our business. It gets really wet here during the monsoon, and sometimes the roads to the village make it hard to get anything done. We spend a lot of time sitting on the porch or in the small office area just talking about seed prices and who has a tractor available for the weekend. It is not a very formal environment. Sometimes the kids are running around while we are trying to look at the books. We don't have any fancy mission statements or anything, we just want to make sure we don't lose money on our hard work. Most of us have been farming since we were young, following what our fathers did. The world is changing and everything is getting more expensive, so we have to stay organized. It is just a simple life here in Salekasa, doing what we know how to do best with the land we have. It’s honest work, even if it is tiring most of the time.
