About Jyoti Vihar (Junior) College – Education in Sambalpur
We are located in Burla, which is a fairly quiet part of Sambalpur compared to the main town area. Jyoti Vihar is a well-known spot, and our college has been part of the community for a while now. Being a junior college, we deal with students at a very specific age where they are just starting to figure out what they want to do. It is a lot of work keeping them on track for their intermediate exams. The campus is simple and functional. We have classrooms with basic wooden benches and whiteboards that often need a good scrub at the end of the week. The administrative work is never-ending, with all the registration forms, fees, and attendance sheets to file. We do not have a big cafeteria on site, just a small place nearby where people grab tea and snacks. The weather here in Sambalpur can be quite extreme, so we have to plan our days around the temperature. In the monsoon, everything gets a bit damp and messy, and in summer, it is incredibly dry. We have a few trees around the building which provide some much-needed shade during the afternoon. The teachers are mostly concerned with finishing the syllabus on time before the finals start. We do not use a lot of technology, just the usual textbooks and handwritten notes. Most of the students come from the local residential blocks.
