Hirakud (Junior) College

Our college is located in Hirakud, which is a part of the Sambalpur district. It is a junior college, so it serves the local students who have just finished their high school. The area is quite well known because of the dam, but the college itself is a quiet place for the most part. We have a mix of students from the town and the nearby rural areas who come here for their intermediate classes. The building is older and has that traditional look you see in many government-aided colleges in Odisha. There is plenty of space around the campus, and you often see students sitting under the trees during their free time. It’s a very simple setup with basic classrooms and old-fashioned wooden benches. We don't have a lot of modern technology, but we have enough for the students to do their daily lessons. The staff members are mostly locals who have been here for years. Life here follows a very set routine, from the morning prayer to the final bell in the afternoon. It is an honest kind of place where people just come to do their jobs and get an education. It’s not flashy or loud, it’s just a part of the community here in Sambalpur. Most of the families in the area have had someone attend this college at some point. It’s just a steady, local institution that has been doing the same thing for a long time.
