Out in Rairakhol, within the Sambalpur district, sits Bhima Bhoi College. It’s a place that many young people from the surrounding villages come to when they finish school. We aren't a massive university with thousands of staff. We’re a modest college that focuses on giving people here a chance to keep studying without having to move all the way to a big city. The campus has a lot of trees, which is nice when the sun is beating down. We spend a lot of our time just managing the day-to-day stuff. Checking the registers, making sure the library books are returned, and keeping the classrooms clean. It’s a quiet life for the most part, though it gets busy during exam times. We don’t have a lot of money for fancy decorations, so the walls are plain and the furniture is well-used. But it serves its purpose. The lecturers here are folks who really care about this part of Odisha. We often sit outside in the shade to talk about how things are going. It’s not a polished environment. You might find a stray cat wandering the halls or a stack of old newspapers in the corner of the office. We just do our best with what we have. It’s an honest place where hard work is more important than how things look on the outside. We’re glad to be a part of Rairakhol and to see our students moving on to better things after their time with us.
