Gangadhar Meher College

In Sambalpur, specifically over in the Budharaja area near the Fatak, you will find our college. It is named after the poet Gangadhar Meher, which is something most people in Odisha are proud of. The college is quite an old institution in this part of town. You can see the history in the walls and the old wooden doors of the lecture halls. Being near the Fatak means you can often hear the trains passing by, which is just part of the daily background noise for us. Students come from all over the district, some taking the bus for an hour just to get to their classes. It is always a bit chaotic in the mornings when the gates open. We have a lot of different departments, and the hallways are usually crowded with students debating or just hanging out between lectures. The canteen is a popular spot, though it gets very loud and smells like fried snacks most of the time. We don't have a polished corporate look. It is a place for learning and sometimes just for growing up. The professors have their own ways of doing things, and some of them have been here for decades. It is a big part of the local community in Sambalpur. We just keep things moving, making sure the exams are held on time and the students get their degrees after all their hard work and effort over the years.
