Charmal (Junior) College

Charmal is a quiet place, and our college is right there in the heart of it. Being in the Sambalpur district, we get students coming in from the nearby villages and the town area. It’s a junior college, so we only have the older students who are preparing for their board exams and figuring out what to do next with their lives. The building isn't anything special to look at, just a regular structure with enough rooms for the different subjects we teach. We have a small staff room where we sit and drink tea while grading papers. It gets quite hot in the summers, so we rely on the ceiling fans quite a bit. There isn't much of a fancy campus life here, it's more about the lectures and getting the syllabus finished on time. We talk to the students about their futures, but in a very casual way, usually while walking across the courtyard. The locals know us well because we’ve been part of the Charmal landscape for years. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just have to move the chairs closer to the windows to see. It’s a bit old-fashioned, maybe, but it works for us. We don't have a big PR department or anyone to write fancy letters. This is just us, a small college in Sambalpur trying to help local kids get through their intermediate years without too much fuss or unnecessary noise.
