About Jai Jagannath (Junior) College – Education in Sambalpur
Down in R Badmal, things move a bit slower than in the big cities. Our junior college is located right here in Sambalpur, and it’s basically where the local kids come after finishing tenth grade. It’s a simple building, nothing too flashy, with basic classrooms and a small area for the students to hang out during their breaks. We focus on the plus two classes, so it’s a lot of notebooks, blackboards, and chalk dust. The teachers are mostly local people who’ve been around for years. You’ll see students arriving on their bicycles early in the morning, and the cycle stand gets pretty full. It’s a quiet spot for the most part, except during the lunch hour when everyone is talking at once. We don't have a huge campus with fountains or anything, just a solid place to study for the board exams. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to open all the windows to get some air, but the kids are used to it. It’s about getting through the syllabus and helping the students move on to whatever comes next, whether that’s a degree college or finding work. Parents often drop by to talk to the staff about how their kids are doing. It’s a community kind of vibe where everyone is just trying to do their part without making a big fuss about it.
