Sri Sakthi Nursery & Primary School

Sri Sakthi Nursery & Primary School is at No 13/8 on Pachapatty Main Road in Salem. Being on a main road means there is always something going on outside, with plenty of people and traffic moving past the building all day long. The school has been here for a good number of years and most of the neighbors are used to the sound of the school bell. We teach kids from the nursery level up through primary school. The building is a standard urban structure, not very big, but we use the space as best as we can. We have several classrooms that are packed with desks. Salem can get incredibly hot during the summer months, so we try to keep the windows open for whatever breeze comes through. The teachers here are local and they know the parents well, which makes things feel more personal. We don't have much of a yard for playing, so the kids mostly stay in their rooms or the small corridors during their breaks. It is a very practical school for the families who live and work in the Pachapatty area. We don't use any fancy teaching methods, just the traditional books and blackboards. Every morning starts with the same routine of getting the kids settled into their seats. It’s a lot of work to keep a school running in such a busy area, but we manage it every day.
