Chanakya Nursery & Primary School

We are located right here on Kannankurichi Main Road in Salem. If you pass by Chanakya Nursery & Primary School in the mornings, you’ll probably hear the kids shouting or singing during their morning assembly. It’s not a very big place, just a simple building where we’ve been working for quite some years now. The classrooms are filled with those little wooden benches and there is chalk dust everywhere. We don’t have fancy air conditioning or anything like that, just some ceiling fans that hum all day while the children do their lessons. It gets pretty loud during the lunch break when everyone is out in the small yard. The teachers here have been around for a long time, mostly local people from Kannankurichi who know all the families around here. We just try to keep things organized and make sure the kids learn their ABCs and numbers. Sometimes the gate sticks a bit in the rainy season, and we have to give it a good shove. Parents drop their kids off on their scooters and there is always a bit of a rush at 9 AM. It is just a regular school where we do our daily work and go home when the bell rings. Most of the kids live within walking distance, so you see them running down the road with their heavy bags after the final bell. It's a busy little spot in this part of Salem and we have been part of this neighborhood for as long as I can remember.
