If you head down to Station Road in Hatia, you’ll find us easily enough. Being near the station means there is always a lot of movement. We are Debu Caterers, and we’ve been operating out of this small space for quite some time. It’s a bit cramped inside because we have so many plates and cooking utensils piled up. But we know where everything is. The noise of the trains is something we’ve just gotten used to over the years. Our work is mostly about the local community here in Hatia. When there is a wedding or a religious function, we get the call. We don't use any fancy techniques. It’s just traditional cooking, the way we learned it from our elders. The staff is like a small family. We argue sometimes about how much spice to use, but in the end, the food gets done. We don't pretend to be a high-end service. We are just people who know how to cook for a crowd. Sometimes the deliveries are a bit of a struggle because of the narrow roads around the station, but we always find a way. We don't have a big marketing budget. Our name travels by word of mouth from one neighbor to another. It’s a busy, messy, and loud business, but it keeps us going. We’re just glad to be a part of the daily life on Station Road and serving our neighbors.
