Mehta Caterers

We’ve been running things out of the Mehta Diary building for a long time now. It’s located at number 4 in Tirupati Nagar, right near the New Cancer Hospital in Rajkot. Being near the hospital means we see a lot of people coming and going every day. This isn't some fancy high-rise office; it’s a working kitchen and a dairy. My father started the dairy, and the catering side of things just grew out of that because we always had fresh milk and curd on hand. We don't have a big marketing department or glossy menus. Usually, people just hear about us from their neighbors or relatives who had us cook for a wedding or a small pooja. The kitchen gets really hot and loud in the mornings when we start the big burners. We focus on traditional Gujarati flavors because that’s what we know best and what our customers expect from us. It is hard work and our hands are always busy with something, whether it’s chopping sacks of potatoes or stirring huge vats of shrikhand. We don’t try to be anything we aren't. We’re just a local family trying to make sure the food is tasty and there’s enough for everyone to have second helpings. Sometimes things get a bit messy when we’re in the middle of a big rush, but we always manage to get the delivery out on time. It’s just how we do things here at Tirupati Nagar.
